“It is what you read when you don’t have to that determines what you will be when you can’t help it,” Oscar Wilde.
I came upon this wise observation when flipping through my RELEVENT magazine and found it to be spot on. This same idea applies to other aspects of life as well-everything we do when we don’t have to will shape the person we become. The ways in which we spend our leisure time through the hobbies we create, the entertainment we watch, and, as Wilde observed, the books we read affects us. Not only should we be diligent students in our assigned reading, we should also make wise choices when it comes to what we read for pleasure. Be well read, but more importantly, be wise in what you read.
